Online poker stars come from all reaches of the planet today, and one of the best hails from the Great White North. Canadian-born player Casey “bigdogpckt5s” Jarabek has been one of the best online poker tournament players for a couple of years now, but really hit the scene in a big way with a win in the FTOPS X Event #9 in November '08 for $278,000. Since then he’s been a force in the online MTT world, and he currently sits in 29th position on the pocketfives.com online MTT leaderboard. Travis "TravestyFund" Rice first made a splash in the online multi-table tournament (MTT) poker scene back in October '07 when he won the Aruba Poker Classic for $800,000. He currently sits in 26th position on the pocketfives.com online MTT leaderboard. His online success has almost been equaled by his live event efforts, making Travis Rice a formidable opponent at any table he chooses to sit in on. Easily one of the UK’s best online players, Greg “gregior” Howard has been at the top of the online MTT food chain for over two years now. In 2008 he went well over the million-dollar mark, winning numerous poker tournaments along the way. It’s not easy to get yourself into the top 99.95th percentile of online multi-table poker tournament players. It’s a lot tougher to do it when you’re going to school full time while under a tennis scholarship at Penn State University. But that’s exactly what Jake Toole has been doing for the last couple of years. Since January of ’09 he’s been climbing the online MTT leaderboards at a lightning pace. The professional poker scene doesn’t have many Indian players at the top of the heap, but in online poker there’s a young man of East Indian descent who is making a big name for himself at the tender age of 22. Ravi “govshark2” Raghavan has been posting huge online MTT cashes for almost a year now, and it’s been enough to vault him into the number 18 spot on the pocketfives.com leaderboard. He began a run on the tables late last summer that has produced hundreds of thousands in winnings, and he continues to be a dominant player in online poker tournaments.

One of Australia’s best young online players is 27-year-old Jay “SEABEAST” Kinkade. Jay has been cashing in online MTT’s for about two years now, where he’s earned over a million dollars. In the last two years he’s played in some live poker tournaments and has won over a quarter of a million dollars in the process. He is a two-time PocketFives Triple Crown winner and has had some huge cashes over the last year. The consistency that he displays has recently vaulted him into the 18th spot on the Pocketfives.com leaderboard.

The online poker world has been under siege for the last couple of months. A 19-year-old poker prodigy named Michael “rock3656” Rocco has been dominating the big buy-in MTT poker tournaments action this summer, climbing from nowhere up to 18th place on the PocketFives.com online tournament leaderboard. Not bad considering he debuted in the PocketFives.com Rankings at #71 in July '09. The Valencia, California native has been playing poker since he was 16 and seems to have come into his own before he even reaches the age of 20.

WORLD POKER NEWS - Ben “NeverScaredB” Wilinofsky PLAYER PROFILE

A rising star in the internet MTT scene is Canadian poker player Ben Wilinofsky. Known as “NeverScaredB” on FullTilt and PokerStars, Wilinofsky also goes by the usernames of “xBadBadManx” on PartyPoker and “DOUGLEEIRLTHO” on TitanPoker. The London, Ontario native is a recent Triple Crown poker tournaments winner, taking the prestigious title in June of ’09. He has a bunch of big cashes so far in ’09 and he’s cashing on what seems like a daily basis. On some days he’ll post as many as 10 cashes in one day. Obviously a dedicated player who puts in a lot of hours of play, Ben shows a consistency that has him in the 99.95 percentile, and a ranking of 16th on the poketfives.com leaderboard.

Billy “Patrolman35” Kopp has been a top internet MTT player for a few years now. Not one of the most famous online players in poker tournaments, Kopp has mostly flown under the poker media radar until recently. Despite posting consistently online, he was not a big name in the poker world until he lit it up in live action over the last three months. The Erlanger, KY native is only 23 years of age and has already won over $300K online and another $1.2 million in live events. But it was his run in the WSOP this year that let everyone know that Billy Kopp is a world class holdem player, and will not be denied his share of the biggest prize pools online or in any casino.

One of the biggest names in internet poker over the last three years has been James “POKERPRO33” Campbell. He first came on the scene in 2006 and can also be found playing under the name of “POKERPRO” and “jcamby33”. James consistently cashes in numerous variations of the game, and has posted some of the biggest wins in online history. Hailing from Marlborough, Massachusetts the 26-year-old online poker pro has earned millions online and continues to develop his live game skills. James currently sits in 14th position on the pocketfives.com MTT leaderboard, and continues to play in poker tournaments within the 99.96th percentile of online players.

One of Europe’s most famous players is Dublin’s Andrew Black. Black has been beating the game of poker for over a decade, and has a staggering $4.1 million in live tournament winnings. In the 2009 World Series of Poker Black already has four cashes for over $125K in winnings.

Ireland is slowly becoming a poker hotbed as local pubs regularly host small poker tournaments. The best online MTT player from Ireland right now is Jude “j.thaddeus” Ainsworth. Jude has had some huge cashes of late and has managed to climb to the number 15 spot on the pocketfives.com MTT leaderboard. Ainsworth goes by numerous usernames online including “j.thaddeus”, “j_thaddeus”, “jude18” and “j.thaddeus”. He can be found on most sites playing most of the MTT action of $40 or more.

If you’re talking about big online scores over the last year, you have to mention Jeremiah “Believer82” Vinsant. Since June of ’08 Jeremiah has been one of the most dominant forces in online MTT’s, and he’s won over a million dollars playing them in just a couple of years. The 26-year-old poker pro is currently ranked 11th on the pocketfives.com online MTT rankings, and if his consistency continues he’ll be in the Top 10 soon.

When it comes to winning big events there isn’t a hotter online poker player right now than David Sands. Since November of 2008 he has won well over $600,000 playing online multi-table tournaments. The Bozman, MT native has been taking down huge paydays, including five weekend majors. He’s currently ranked 11th on the pocketfives.com online poker rankings and should crack the Top 10 soon if he continues to run so well and play so dominantly.

Not many people would quit a lucrative job as a corporate sales executive because they think they can make more money playing poker, but that’s exactly what ninth-ranked Ryan “gutshtallin” Welch did after he won the Sunday Brawl for $68k in January 2008. Since then he’s been tearing it up in the online MTT world, and he’s also been one of the hottest players in 2009, already winning in the neighborhood of half a million dollars in the last five months.

The seventh-ranked online tournament player is currently Buffalo, New York’s Jonathan “xxjondxx” Delong. The 20-year-old poker prodigy ranks in the 99.97th percentile of online tournament players, and has been tearing up the MTT world of late, vaulting himself into the Top 10 rankings with numerous big wins in 2009. He is also known as “shipitobv” and “Shipaholic”, and since January he’s won over $600K playing online MTT’s. He’s obviously a very active player who sometimes has as many as six or seven cashes in one day and has a total of over a million dollars in earnings.

One of the most dominant online multi-table tournament players today is “mendieta19”. He currently sits in fifth-place on the pocketfives.com online poker rankings, mainly due to some stellar play since November 2008. The Swedish online professional has tried to hide his real identity in the past, but it’s widely believed that his name is Jakob Karlsson. His age and hometown are still mysteries, but what we do know about this guy is that he is one of the best multi-table tournament players in the world.

One of online poker’s bright young stars is German player “PreshaDrop”. His real name is still a secret to the online poker community, but he’s certainly had some people notice his achievements playing online MTT’s since last summer. He’s managed to move himself into the #52 position on the pocketfives.com online tournament player rankings by posting consistent finishes over that timeframe. His career online poker winnings total over a half-million dollars, won almost exclusively from playing MTT’s.

Thayer “THAY3R” Rasmussen is currently ranked 14th on the pocketfives.com MTT leaderboard, mainly due to consistent play in many poker variations.

When you look at the list of today’s best online multi-table poker tournament (MTT) poker players, there’s one theme that seems to stand out more than anything else. A good majority of these players are under 23 years of age, and they’ve been rising to the top echelons of the online game for three or four years. Another 21-year-old internet MTT star is Scott “stpauli111” Hall of Fayetteville, Arizona, who is also known around the online tables as “AkonSmackDat” and “scottdog25”.

Adam “Roothlus” Levy was one of the online pioneers on the multi-table poker tournament (MTT) scene, since 2005, and he’s rapidly becoming a force in the biggest live events in North America. Levy has over 2,100 online MTT posts, and has banked over a million dollars in online multi-table poker tournament winnings. The 26-year-old started playing poker while in college at the University of Central Florida and Santa Fe Community College, and ended up becoming a professional player when he couldn’t find anything he was interested in doing in school.

Martin graduated last year from Southern Oregon University with his Bachelors degree in business with an emphasis in accounting, and then he turned professional as a poker player.

When it comes to big online poker tournament scores, Steven Burkholder has been the king for the last eight months. The 22-year-old student has over 785 money posts since mid-2007, including numerous six-figure scores. His eleven biggest tournament finishes over the last eight months add up to over $1,004,300. Burkholder has a knack for winning the biggest events out there, plus he maintains a consistent number of cashes in the smaller events.
