The World Series of Poker Europe is in full swing in London right now and action has dwindled down to 27 players. Some big names like Daniel Negreanu, Doyle Brunson, Liz Lieu and Men “The Master” Nguyen still remain in the event, while so many others have hit the rail. Also still in the thick of it is young Ukrainian poker phenom Yevgeniy Timoshenko. He spent the day battling Steve Fung, who is currently one the of the chip leaders. The two took turns taking chips from each other, and the battle displayed some good poker instincts for both players.SIGN-UP FOR 30% RAKEBACK AT PINNACLE POKER NOW
One hand that was very well played between the two came in the late stages of the day when Timoshenko raised the flop bet and got a call from Fung. A flop of Kd-Jh-2c seemed to hit Timoshenko because he bet out 25K. Fung wasn’t going anywhere and he called the bet, leading to a turn card of 5d. Timoshenko quickly loaded up a second barrel and fired off a big bet of 42.5k. Again he couldn't shake Fung, who made the call, making the pot well over 130K. The pot became very important just because of its size, and it seemed that both players had big hands by the way the action was going.
When the river 4c came Timoshenko would not step up and fire the third barrel at the pot. That move turned out to be his demise because when Fung also checked the action and tabled his Ad-10d, it was good enough to take down the pot with ace-high. Timoshenko quickly mucked his hand after he saw the ace-high, and he sat there with egg on his face for a few minutes until the dust settled from the hand. Fung once again took a significant chunk out of Timoshenko’s stack, and is now sitting near the top of the tournament leaderboard.
Fung obviously had a strong read on Timoshenko when he was making his bets in the hand. He called down a big bet on three straight streets with A-semi/weak kicker, although he did have a flush and gut straight draw. Fung took down the pot and continues to upset the young Timoshenko.
