Combo draws are drawing hands that have multiple ways of making a big hand. They have at least 12 outs, and are so powerful that they usually have more equity in a pot than a made hand. We’ve all been in a situation with one of these big draws. Some of them, like a straight draw and a flush draw or an open-ended straight flush draw, have 15 outs to hit a big hand. Even if you only have 12 outs you have over a quarter of the remaining cards in the deck that you can hit to win the hand. The worst of these draws with only 12 outs is still even money against an over-pair.

Few hands are played the same way every time, but combo draws are one of the rare situations where it’s right to play them the same way almost every time you have them. And playing them correctly requires that you play them as aggressively as you can, especially just after you get them on the flop.
You want to play these draws aggressively for two reasons. The obvious one is that you want to get your chips in there with favourable odds, and these hands will give you those favourable odds against most good hands. Only against monster hands will you be a dog, and you’ll still only be a slight dog against big hands like a flopped set. Playing these hands aggressively will get action against good hands, and if you slow play them you may not get that action if the turn or river put out a scare card that stops your opponent from calling your bet.
The other reason to play these draws aggressively is fold equity. By forcing the action with your big draw you also get a chance that your opponent will fold the pot to you. When an opponent is in this situation it becomes difficult for them to call a big bet or to fold the pot to you, especially when they have a good hand like top pair/good kicker or an over-pair.
