Please note that a working knowledge of XML is required for integration purposes. Pinnacle Sports regrets that it is unable to provide additional programming support.
- Get the file produced by http://xml.pinnaclesports.com/pinnacleFeed.asp. The server will produce a static file which is updated every 10 minutes. - Make an incremental call to the same URL to receive the latest updates since the static file was produced by using the PinnacleFeedTime found in the previous call (example http://xml.pinnaclesports.com/pinnacleFeed.asp?last=1196199051920) - The PinnacleFeedTime is a critical part of this system and represents the number of milliseconds since the epoch. To compensate for the various latencies between the time at which the PinnacleFeedTime value was generated and the production of the static file, it is perfectly acceptable to deduct a certain number of seconds (in milliseconds) from this value. Please note however, that this can result in duplicate updates which you will need to be able to resolve.
last: This is used to receive incremental updates using the value of PinncelFeedTime. Always use the value of PinnacleFeedTime found in the previous evocation of the xml feed. A PinnacleFeedTime older than 60 minutes, in the absence of the sportType parameter, will have no effect. If you do not include the PinnacleFeedTime, you will receive the same static file as if you had issued a call without it (unless the sporttype parameter was used, see next section).
sporttype: (maximum size of 20 characters) This can be used to restrict the feed to a particular sport (examples of a valid sporttype are Baseball, Football (for American Football), Handball, Hockey, Soccer etc.). With the exception of soccer, providing a sporttype parameter will result in a dynamic feed with lines current at the time of the call. Due to the number of individual leagues in soccer, please refer to the Standard usage example below to receive up to date lines for soccer. A list of valid "sports" can be found at http://xml.pinnaclesports.com/leagues.asp.
sportsubtype: (maximum size of 12 characters) This can be used to restrict the feed to a chosen League only for a particular sport. When using a specific sportsubtype, you must include a valid sporttype to identify the sport and league. For example, NCAA could refer to either Basketball or Football in American college sports. Refer to http://xml.pinnaclesports.com/leagues.asp for the complete list of leagues that are currently available together with the matching 12 character abbreviation.
contest: This can be used to prevent the display of contests using the following name/value pair in the query string: contest=no.
Standard usage 1. Get the complete feed with http://xml.pinnaclesports.com/pinnacleFeed.asp 2. Make an incremental call to receive the latest changes with http://xml.pinnaclesports.com/pinnacleFeed.asp?last=1196336347638 3. Make a second incremental call 60 seconds later to receive the latest changes with http://xml.pinnaclesports.com/pinnacleFeed.asp?last=1196336407638 4. In this example it was assumed that the complete feed included a value of 1196336347638 for the PinnacleFeedTime. Please ensure to always use the value present in the feed obtained in the previous call.
Interested in Games only If you are interested in games only you can use the value of the element lastGame to make an incremental call. For example; 1. Get the complete feed with http://xml.pinnaclesports.com/pinnacleFeed.asp 2. Make an incremental call to receive the latest changes with http://xml.pinnaclesports.com/pinnacleFeed.asp?lastGame=1196336347639 (the value for lastGame is found in the static file and subsequent incremental updates) 3. In this example it was assumed that the complete feed included a value of 1196336347639 for the PinnacleFeedTime. Please ensure to always use the value present in the feed obtained in the previous call.
If you are also interested in contests, simply add the parameter lastContest to the query string with the value found in the static file. For example; 1. Get the complete feed with http://xml.pinnaclesports.com/pinnacleFeed.asp 2. Make an incremental call to receive the latest changes with http://xml.pinnclesports.com/pinnaclefeed.asp?lastGame=1196336347640&lastContest=4678 (the value for lastGame is found in the static file and subsequent incremental updates) 3. In this example it was assumed that the complete feed included a value of 1196336347640 for the PinnacleFeedTime. Please ensure to always use the value present in the feed obtained in the previous call.
It is also possible to mix and match sportType and/or sportSubType with lastGame if you are only interested in one particular sport. Please see examples shown below, that mix sporttype, sportSubType and last.
Please note that lastContest does not work without lastGame and last supersedes the usage of either lastGame or lastContest. Therefore if you issue both last and either lastGame or lastContest in the same call, only last will be used.
Interested in Hockey only 1. Get the full list of hockey games with http://xml.pinnaclesports.com/pinnacleFeed.asp?sportType=Hockey&contest=no 2. Make an incremental call to receive the latest changes in Hockey with http://xml.pinnaclesports.com/pinnacleFeed.asp?sportType=Hockey&last=1196336347641&contest=no 3. Make another incremental call 60 seconds later to receive the latest changes with http://xml.pinnaclesports.com/pinnacleFeed.asp?sportType=Hockey&last=1196336407641&contest=no 4. In this example it was assumed that the complete feed included a value of 1196336347641 for the PinnacleFeedTime. Please ensure to always use the value present in the feed obtained in the previous call.
Interested in Soccer only 1. Get the complete feed with http://xml.pinnaclesports.com/pinnacleFeed.asp 2. Make an incremental call to receive the latest changes with http://xml.pinnaclesports.com/pinnacleFeed.asp?sportType=Soccer&last=1196336347642 3. Make another incremental call 60 seconds later to receive the latest changes with http://xml.pinnaclesports.com/pinnacleFeed.asp?sportType=Hockey&last=1196336407642&contest=no 4. In this example it was assumed that the complete feed included a value of 1196336347642 for the PinnacleFeedTime. Please ensure to always use the value present in the feed obtained in the previous call.
Please refrain from using a very high frequency of calls to the xml feed. Pinnacle Sports reserves the right to monitor usage of the XML feed and block the IP address range of any user that abuses this service. 1 call per minute is considered an acceptable usage of the feed.
The Professional Player – Helping Turn Squares into Sharps
As a general rule there are two groups of gamblers – those who hope to win and those who expect to win. The vast majority of gamblers belong to the first group, and always will, because their actions contradict their intentions. At the Professional Player, we aim to explain why.
There is no simple secret to attaining long-term betting profitability, all professional players serve a long apprenticeship, but if you aspire to join this elite group there are some basic concepts that you need to come to grips with in order to make the transition from ‘square’ to ‘sharp’.
Understanding How Bookmakers Work
The first choice that a novice gambler must make is where to place their bet. More often than not, this is where they make their first and biggest mistake, simply because they don’t understand how bookmakers work.
In simple terms, bookmakers make a profit by pricing their betting markets so that the odds offered do not fairly represent the actual statistical probability of the event concerned. The simplest analogy is betting on a coin toss, which statistically represents a 50/50 chance (even money or 1/1) on either outcome – heads or tails. When betting with a friend, you’d bet €10 to win €10.
Most bookmakers however, would offer heads or tails at odds below 1/1, so you would for example have to bet €11 to win €10 (10/11) on what is essentially an equal chance. If one player bets €11 to win €10 on heads and another punter bets €11 to win €10 on tails, the bookie takes in €22 in bets but regardless of whether the outcome is heads or tails, he will pay out €21 (€10 in winnings and return the player’s stake amount of €10). The difference between the odds they offer, and the true price represents the bookies’ margin, in this case a €1 profit or 4.5% on turnover.
At PinnacleSports.com we typically price two-way markets - such as the five major European soccer leagues - to 102%, which offers up to 60% better odds than traditional bookmakers. Using the example of the coin toss, you would have to win close to c. 53% of bets to break even with traditional bookmakers, but at a low margin online sports book like PinnacleSports.com you would only need to win c. 51% of your picks to break even.
Price, Price, Price
While all bookmakers use this simple business model, there can be a huge variance in the profit margin priced into a market. The sportsbooks offering the least value rely on the ignorance of players to these simple market making principles in order to maximize profits. As a crude rule of thumb, if a sportsbook uses scantily clad women to promote themselves, the likelihood is that their models are much hotter than their prices. At PinnacleSports.com our motto is simple – to give yourself the best chance of making a profit, ‘always get the best price’. PinnacleSports.com, is the Sportsbook of choice for serious players, because a professional player understands the importance of price, and PinnacleSports.com’s lines are rarely beaten. At Pinnacle Sports we define a ‘sharp’ or professional player as a client we expect will win in the long-term.
The key point is that it doesn’t matter whether the action is at Wembley, the Nou Camp or Poland’s third division; or if you are a professional punter or betting novice, to increase the chances of long-term profitability, or maximise the rewards of short-term punting, you should always research your chosen sport to the best of your abilities then try to get down at the best price possible using a low margin online sports book like PinnacleSports.com, a betting exchange or even your local High Street bookie.

Soccer Betting Tips – Do Your Homework
If you are a small player just starting out in sports betting, doing your homework is an important part of improving your profitability. Soccer is Europe’s most gambled on sport, and consequently the coverage of major domestic competitions and the Champions League can be so exhaustive that at times it is difficult to gain any edge over the bookmakers. A good tip to be a consistent winner is to focus on some of the lower or more obscure soccer leagues to stand a better chance of getting one over the bookies. PinnacleSports.com for example cover up to 40 domestic soccer leagues providing ample opportunity for punters prepared to do their research.
